It is difficult to get the exact number of remaining P-51 Mustangs. What we did is count the number of complete aircraft plus projects that are restorable. Serial numbers that are just parts, or wrecks that are considered "destroyed" were not counted. Of course, as warbird fanatics restore the un-restorable, the total number will change. It will also change when two aircraft are used to restore one and if we lose any to accidents.
Please check our list. If you know the status of a P-51 in your area, and we have it incorrectly listed, let us know. Your input is always helpful and carefully considered.
