Martin Kyburz:
This is a Cavalier Mustang of the Indonesian AF (TNI-AU) displayed in a Museum, possibly in Jakarta,
marked F-338. It might be impossible to determine the exact ID of this Mustang, since ID's of
Indonesian Mustangs are very 'fishy' in some cases.
The original F-338 was P-51D-25-NT 44-84801, former NEIAF (Netherlands East Indies Air Force)
N3-638, coded H-338, delivered on October 24, 1945, serving with No. 121 Sqdn. and transferred
to the new AURI (Indonesian AF) in 1949, when Indonesia received independent status.
Since the a/c shown here clearly is a Cavalier conversion; the original a/c either went through
this programme, or it is another a/c delivered sometime later and presented here in fake-markings.
Alex Sidharta:
This Mustang pictures was taken at "Dirgantara Mandala" Museum in
Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The "Dirgantara Mandala" is Indonesian Air Force
museum which mostly Indonesian AF's aircrafts are well preserved.
