Readers' Responses:

Joe Scheil: This one, after surviving a belly landing was photographed at King City after attention by Gorden Plaskett. The belly scoop and doghose have been replaced. This is a combat veteran Mustang and was coded E9-Z and had several kills. She was registered N51CK and suffered this accident sometime in 81. Now painted in her original 8th AF colors, she has also been RCAF 9561and N6339T as well as N51WB for a short time.

William Yoak: This picture was probably taken around 1979 or '80 following repairs after a forced landing during an engine failure. The aircraft was owned by Mississippi Car dealership owner Charles Kemp. Kemp had to belly land the Mustang shorlty after take off when the engine threw a connecting rod or swallowed a vavle and lost power. Fortunately, Kemp was not injured, but the aircraft received substantial damage. This occured in either late 1978 or early in 1979 (if I remember correctly). I think the aircraft is still owned and operated and Kemp, but am not certain, though.
