Joe Scheil:
This is the Planes of Fame Air Museums' P-51A 43-6251, N4235Y while at the Cal Aero
Technical Institute in Glendale. They had it from 1946 to 1953 and I assume it was
flown in as the airfield, Glendale Air Terminal was still open for a time during
that period. She is now in Valle AZ at the annex there...
Sorry Joe, you rarely miss a mustang ID, but that's not it.

Roger Baker:
My first guess on case 164 would be (A-36A) 42-83738 when owned by Sid
Smith down in Florida...well before its' unfortunate Merlin "conversion"
began.
Second guess would be 43-6007, although I don't think this airplane was
painted before it "went south".
Well Roger, your first guess is right, so your second guess is not. I guess
that makes your guesses half right ... I guess ...
Thanks for everyone's input!
