1978: Nov, N5444V, stored outside - I remember taxiing by this P-51 many times while earning my ticket in a C-172 at SJC. It was parked on the east ramp, then moved around.
1998: Still outside!
2000: This P-51 is still stored outside. I have a hangar nearby that could find room.....
2001: Dec, word has it that this P-51 will be fully restored, beginning sometime in 2002
2004: restoration-started, Texas, then Florida at American Aero Services
2005: N5444V, Selby Burch, FL
2008: Work progressing, polished fuselage, looks like PTO paint.

2009: Incredible, but this P-51 is airworthy again! Congrats to Selby Burch and American Aero Services for rescuing this bird and restoring her to glory once again. Painted in 5th Air Force, 15th FG, 47th FS scheme.
