1952: Israeli AF ??46
197?: Robbs Lamplough, UK, rep 1976/8
Jack Erickson, Tillamook Air Museum, Tillamook OR - display only.
2008: sold to Champion Air Group, LLC
2009: Restoration for display as Glenn Eagleston's "Feeble Eagle"
During the restoration, it was discovered that this P-51 was an Israeli P-51 numbered "146" or "2346". Restoration done by Vintage Air Frames, Caldwell Idaho. The P-51 serial numbers attached to Israeli P-51 service are very difficult at best to trace. Israel used a new serial number system starting in 1948. The P-51 was prefixed with "23" and then a 2 digit identifier number. If they found "46" during the restoration, then this P-51 was IAF #2346. There is also reference to a few D-XXX numbers for P-51s. There were only 2 and that was pre 1948 and was used on 2301 and 2302.
Even if we assume this as 2346, there is no trail from the 23XX to the US SN at this time.
2010: Sold (traded) to the Museum of Flight, Seattle Wa. The Museum of Flight (Nov 2021) is assuming 44-72423, IDF/AF 146
