44-74494, ex-RCAF 9237. To my knowledge the only Mustang ever based in Luxemburg, this picture was probably taken in UK between 1966 and 1970. she went back to the USA in 1971, was eventually registered N72FT. Flew for a while as "Mangia Pane", race#72, for Bill Destefani.

Did this plane ever reside in Luxembourg, or was it a permanent resident in England with Charles Masefield? Seem to remember that this was the first 51 Paul Coggan saw flying at an airshow in the U K (flying with the Red Arrows no less)

Hi T J, My only source for this info is a statement posted on the web by a Belgian bloke who was working on a book on civil aviation in Luxembourg. He mentioned he had received a picture reportedly taken in 1964 at the Luxembourg-Findel airport showing several planes, including "Mr. Beck's Mustang". Unfortunately, the picture was not posted on the website. I can't remember the website, but will try to "Google" when I find the time, but I'm sure of the "Mr. Beck's Mustang" bit, plus the fact that I was born in Luxembourg in 1964. If not mistaken, Mr. Beck was the director of Interocean, an air cargo company operating from Luxembourg and some airports in Germany. The Mustang might have been in transit only; as far as I know, no Mustang was ever registered in Luxembourg. If I find more, I'll get back to you.
