I believe it is 44-72035. At the time the picture was taken, probably N5411V, but now G-SIJJ "Jumpin' Jacques" with Peter Teichman in North Weald, Essex

This airplane is: S/N 44-72035. I knew this airplane here in Colombia (South America) when it belonged to my friend Cap. Humberto Escobar under the nick name of "Andy Boy" under Colombian registries HK-2812P, and HK-2812X. Best thanks and kindest regards.

This is 44-72035 N5411V while in the ownership of the Whiteman family who ran Whiteman Airpark. Later sold to an owner in Colombia it was exported to Jacques Bourret in France around 1989. Later sold to Peter Teichman and currently operated from North Weald airfield near London, UK.

I think this P-51 was owned by Gary Whiteman and based at Van Nuys Airport in CA. I remember seeing this aircraft under a shade hangar at Van Nuys a few times during the late 1970's. I think Gary Whiteman's family owned Whiteman Airport (in Pacoima, CA) from the late 1940's until around 1970.

If this is Gary Whitman's P51 it was at their Pacoima airport in the early 1960's I worked at Volitan/Volpar and we maintained this plane and their C47, it was bright Maroon with a Gold Lightning on the side of the fuselage and had polished main gear struts. Gary flew to Vegas for lunch. Strategic mission. John Williamson jwillia100@aol.com

As a youth, I lived about a quarter mile west of Whiteman Airport. I always thought there was a maroon and a yellow mustang at Whiteman, but now it sound like it was the same plane. While in my house, sometimes I could hear it coming and I would run out the front door to see it, the maroon one. As it flew over, It would often be at a low altitude and sound to me like it was at full throttle. To me, it was the most incredible thing to see and hear. I heard rumors that it crash in the desert. I'm glad to hear that wasn't the case. Truly a magnificent plane!

My father and his brothers worked for Whiteman Enterprises (concrete finishing equip) after WWII. I remember the P51 aircraft at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima. I also remember the racetrack that Marvin Jr and Gary had built at that location also - precious memories.
Case Closed!
